Mindset and Performance Coaching
The intersection of life+sport can present challenges, and I can help.
Swimming — whether in a pool or in open water — is such a mental sport! In addition, nutrition and fueling as well as recovery and balancing life+sport is crucial to success. And easier said than done. Sometimes it helps to talk about what might be getting in the way, and then make a plan for setting ourselves up for success.
To be clear, mindset and performance coaching is not therapy. It is future-oriented and I use strategic, empowering questions to help the athlete gain insight and commit to making a plan to address the changes they uncover. In addition to swimmers, I can do mindset coaching with any athlete or non-athlete.
Mindset Coaching
Mindset work is a powerful tool for improving performance and enjoyment of the sport. Some of the areas we can address with mindset coaching include:
Adopting a growth mindset
Learning resilience
Feeling empowered and self-confident
Overcoming limiting beliefs
Embracing a healthy and positive mindset
Performance Coaching
When preparation in terms of technique and training doesn’t translate to performance, I often find that the culprit can be mindset and/or life and habits are getting in the way of success. This can include:
Nutrition — Fueling like an athlete daily and prior to competing
Balance — Managing practice, homework/work, sleep (too little), social, and other nonproductive habits
Recovery — Doing everything in your power to recover your body daily and correctly within a season of hard practice and competing
