Race and Stroke Analysis
Some situations require unique, one-on-one coaching. That’s why Jeannie offers race and stroke analysis. Most races may not get a thorough review and evaluation, yet there is so much that can be learned by taking some time to review the details. Sometimes practice looks much different than racing. And maybe some strokes are harder than others and need more efficiency. Whatever the issue, I can help both age group and adult swimmers.
Through one-on-one race or stroke analysis, Coach Jeannie and the swimmer meet in-person (if preferred and local), or virtually to review race or stroke video. In race analysis, we look at all aspects of the race(s) — start, stroke technique, turns, underwater, strategy, and confidence. In stroke analysis, we do a thorough look at strokes, identifying efficiency and speed issues.
At this meeting, the swimmer will receive invaluable personal feedback and strategies for practice and future race opportunities. Bring a journal — there will be plenty to make note of! With virtual meetings, an audio recording of the session is also provided.
Mindset Coaching
The intersection of life+sport can present challenges, and I can help.
Swimming — whether in a pool or in open water — is such a mental sport! In addition, nutrition and fueling as well as recovery and balancing life+sport is crucial to success. And easier said than done. Sometimes it helps to talk about what might be getting in the way, and then make a plan for setting ourselves up for success.
To be clear, mindset and performance coaching is not therapy. It is future-oriented and I use strategic, empowering questions to help the athlete gain insight and commit to making a plan to address the changes they uncover. In addition to swimmers, I can do mindset coaching with any athlete or non-athlete.
Mindset work is a powerful tool for improving performance and enjoyment of the sport. Some of the areas we can address with mindset coaching include:
Adopting a growth mindset
Learning resilience
Feeling empowered and self-confident
Overcoming limiting beliefs
Embracing a healthy and positive mindset
Performance Coaching
When preparation in terms of technique and training doesn’t translate to performance, I often find that the culprit can be mindset and/or life and habits are getting in the way of success. This can include:
Nutrition — Fueling like an athlete daily and prior to competing
Balance — Managing practice, homework/work, sleep (too little), social, and other nonproductive habits
Recovery — Doing everything in your power to recover your body daily and correctly within a season of hard practice and competing
Dryland/strength — Incorporating weights, flexibility and body weight dryland into your training
